Druga część „brutalnych” wyścigów ze studia BugbearEntertainment. Poprzednik znakomicie łączył elementy normalnejrywalizacji samochodowej z niczym nie skrępowaną destrukcjąprowadzonych pojazdów, a na dodatek wyposażony został w robiącą sporewrażenie oprawę graficzną i nie gorszy silnik fizyczny, co znalazłouznanie w oczach przeszło sześciuset tysięcy fanów czterech kółek, wtym głównie legendarnego Destruction Derby. Nie uszło to uwadze wydawcy gry, Empire Interactive, dlatego też zafundował im kolejną odsłonę serii.
Jak można się było domyślać, autorzy wyszli w niejnaprzeciw oczekiwaniom graczy i skupili się na większym wyeksponowaniuelementu „destrukcyjnego”. Zatem, kupując FlatOut 2 otrzymujemyiście niszczycielskie wyścigi samochodowe, w których samo dojechanie domety w jednym kawałku jest sporym sukcesem. Ulepszono silnik graficzny,a także wszelkie mechanizmy odpowiedzialne za oddziaływania fizyczne,dzięki czemu liczne kraksy wyglądają jeszcze bardziej widowiskowo niż wjedynce. Odpadające drzwi, błotniki i inne elementy karoserii aut,pękające szyby, zdruzgotane zderzaki, dymiące silniki czy odpadającekoła to stały element każdego wyścigu. Na dodatek na trasachumieszczono setki interaktywnych obiektów i przeszkód oraz różnekarkołomne skróty, które urozmaicają i wzmacniają wszechobecnąrozwałkę.
W sumie w grze występuje 16 modeli samochodów. Są one wpełni modyfikowane i każdy może je dowolnie ulepszać i upiększać. Wjednym wyścigu bierze udział maksymalnie ośmiu kierowców, co jestgraniczną ilością osób jaka może się zmagać równocześnie w trybiemultiplayer (LAN/Internet). W przypadku rozgrywki jednoosobowejpozostałymi siedmioma oponentami zajmuje się komputerowa sztucznainteligencja, która także doczekała się wielu usprawnień w stosunku dooryginalnego FlatOuta. Każdy kierowca posiada swój indywidualny styl prowadzenia, predyspozycje oraz nastawienie względem przeciwników.
Nie zapomniano również o popularnych zmaganiach typu„ragdoll”, na które składa się dwanaście specjalnych konkurencji (skokize skoczni, przejazdy przez płonące obręcze, itp.), a także czystych,prymitywnych potyczkach z rodzaju „destruction derbies”. |
